What are the uses of used laptop batteries? Recycling of used laptop batteries

Laptop computers are very common nowadays, and many of them are eliminated every year. According to statistics, approximately 50 million lithium-ion laptop batteries are discarded around the world every year, which is undoubtedly a major threat to the ecological environment. But recently, IBM researchers discovered a new use - using used laptop batteries to power home lighting.

Researchers found that 70% of used laptop batteries are enough to power LED lights. They take the used batteries apart, remove the still usable cells, and then use the extra ones to create complete battery packs. These battery packs provide 1 year of service life if the LED lights are powered for 4 hours per day.

In initial testing, researchers provided the battery packs to five residents of Bangalore, India, to light roads in slums or on sidewalks. The test was very successful and an upgraded version of the battery pack is now being tested.

The above is an introduction to what are the uses of used laptop batteries and can also be used for home lighting . I hope it will be helpful to you!
